Dying to try something new...

 Dear Reader,
I have found the best show ever on Netflix. I just finished the series Younger and have never felt so inspired as I do now. Most of my life, I have felt like I have been chasing a dream, a dream of being a prominent shot business owner. I have dreamed of living in a downtown apartment in Holland, having a loft, with my large, male German Shepherd, and just doing something I love.
The funny thing about being a writer is that you are never just a writer... You work in advertising and promoting your own novels; there is a significant financial component, including making sure you stay within your budget while breaking even or paying your bills with what you write. While writing, you find that you are your own worst enemy in doing your own edits and publishing. In the end, it is your own business, and you get to run it the way you see fit. If you are an indie author, you get to call the shots on when your next work is published and how often you publish. So, in sum, I already have my own business and my big Male German Shepherd (Ace).
What does this have to do with the show... well, a 40-year-old mom is struggling to find her way back into the publishing (the job she had before her life changed). She had to lie about her age to prove her worth, do something she loves, and make new friends along the way. She finds love and torn between what she thinks is right for her versus what is really in her heart the entire time.
Watching this show has inspired me to write even more and find a way into the publishing world. I have been looking into my transferable skills, my long line of education, what I have succeeded at, and what I actually love to do. It is hard not to want to have a job every day where reading books is what you are being paid to do. Not to mention being inspired to write even more and find even more creativity through others' words. For someone who has a library of her own and loves to read and write, it seems like a no-brainer to me. Something for me to consider in the future, hopefully near future.
